The town of Bansko is at 925m, and its skiing area is 2000-2500m above sea level. Bansko combines the nature of the Pirin mountains with the traditional welcoming atmosphere of the old Bulgarian towns.

The distance between Sofia and Bansko is 170 km and the nearest International Airport is the one in Sofia with a transfer time of 2.5 hours. Bansko ski resort is situated in South-Western part of Bulgaria at the foot of one of the most beautiful Bulgarian mountains - Pirin, which represents a natural preserve and is included in the World Natural Heritage list. Bansko is not just a ski resort, as sunny days abound in the summer making the beautiful Pirin lakes an unforgettable experience.

Summer activites include hiking on the many walking and hiking trails or on a guided tour up to the highest mountains; there are also opportunities for moutain biking, tennis, horse riding and fishing. If you are an animal lover, you could visit the reserve for dancing bears in the nearby town of Belitsa. Currently the park hosts 13 dancing bears, which have been bought from their owners and moved into the park, which is designed to offer a near to-natural habitat for these badly treated bears.

Surrounded by Pirin, Rila and Rhodopa mountains, Bansko is a climatic mountain resort with a short summer and long winter. Snow falls are abudant, providing a constant winter snow cover up to 2 m thick.
The skiing season along the Pirin slopes starts in the middle of December and ends in mid-April. The Pirin mountain has a predominantly Alpine character with two peaks towering above 2900m. However, the slopes offer runs and tracks for all types of skiers and will suit both beginners and experts.
